CAJUN SHRIMP AND STEAK FEAST

Posted on December 28, 2024 by admin

Ingredients

For the Cajun Steak:

  • 2 ribeye or strip steaks (about 1-inch thick)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Cajun Shrimp:

  • 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

For the Sides (Optional but Recommended):

  • 1 cup cooked rice or mashed potatoes
  • Grilled or roasted vegetables (e.g., asparagus, zucchini, or bell peppers)

For Garnish:

  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Steak

  1. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels.
  2. Rub both sides with olive oil and season generously with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Let the steaks rest at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Step 2: Cook the Steak

  1. Heat a heavy skillet or grill pan over high heat until very hot.
  2. Sear the steaks for 3–4 minutes on each side for medium-rare (adjust cooking time to your preferred doneness).
  3. Remove from the pan and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Step 3: Prepare the Shrimp

  1. While the steak is resting, melt butter in the same skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the shrimp, Cajun seasoning, and minced garlic. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  3. Drizzle with lemon juice and toss to coat.

Step 4: Assemble the Feast

  1. Plate the sliced steak and Cajun shrimp alongside your choice of sides (rice, mashed potatoes, or vegetables).
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges for a burst of brightness.

Tips for Success

  • Cajun Seasoning: Adjust the spice level to your preference. For a milder flavor, reduce the Cajun seasoning slightly.
  • Doneness Check: Use a meat thermometer for the steak (130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
  • Add Surf & Turf Flair: Brush the shrimp and steak with garlic butter before serving for extra decadence.

Enjoy this Cajun Shrimp and Steak Feast, a bold, flavorful, and satisfying dish perfect for special occasions or treating yourself to a gourmet dinner at home! 🥩🦐
