Ingredients

– 1 package of croissant dough (homemade or store-bought)
– 1/2 cup (115g) thinly sliced ham
– 1/2 cup (115g) shredded cheese (such as cheddar, Swiss, or mozzarella)
– 1/4 cup (55g) chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, chives, or thyme)
– 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– Optional: 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard or honey for added flavor

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Roll out the croissant dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch (6mm).
3. Cut the dough into 6-8 triangles, depending on the size you prefer for your croissants.
4. Place a few slices of ham and a sprinkle of shredded cheese on the wide end of each triangle.
5. Sprinkle chopped fresh herbs over the ham and cheese.
6. Roll each triangle into a croissant shape, curling the ends towards each other.
7. Place the croissants on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch (2.5cm) of space between each.
8. Brush the tops of the croissants with the beaten egg for a golden glaze.
9. Bake the croissants for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
10. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Tips and Variations

– Use different types of cheese, such as feta or goat cheese, for a unique flavor.
– Add some diced onions or bell peppers to the ham and cheese filling for extra flavor.
– Use a combination of ham and turkey or roast beef for a meatier filling.
– Brush the croissants with a little bit of Dijon mustard or honey before baking for an added flavor boost.
