Ingredients
– 1 lb (450g) ground beef
– 1 medium onion, finely chopped
– 2 cloves of garlic, minced
– 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 4 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)
– 4 slices of cheese (such as cheddar, American, or mozzarella)
– 2 tablespoons butter, divided
– Optional: chopped bacon, diced tomatoes, or spinach for added flavor
Instructions
1. Cook the ground beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
2. Add aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.
3. Season the beef: Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and dried oregano. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4. Assemble the sandwich: Butter one side of each bread slice. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
5. Add the beef and cheese: Spoon the cooked ground beef onto the bread slice, followed by a slice of cheese.
6. Top with another bread slice: Place another bread slice, butter-side up, on top of the filling.
7. Cook until golden brown: Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Carefully flip the sandwich over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the other side is also golden brown.
