– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon pepper
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon paprika
– 1 teaspoon dried thyme
– 1 lemon, quartered (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
2. In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and thyme.
3. Rub the mixture all over the chicken, making sure to get some under the skin as well.
4. Place the chicken in the air fryer basket, breast side up.
5. Cook the chicken for 20-25 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
6. After 20 minutes, check the chicken’s temperature and crispiness. If needed, continue cooking in 5-minute increments until done.
7. Once cooked, let the chicken rest for 5-10 minutes before carving and serving.
8. Garnish with lemon wedges, if desired.
Tips and Variations
– For crisper skin, pat the chicken dry with paper towels before cooking.
– To add some smokiness, sprinkle some smoked paprika or chipotle powder on the chicken.
– For a Mediterranean twist, add some oregano, rosemary, or lemon zest to the rub.
– To make it spicy, add some red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños to the rub.
