Ingredients
- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup toffee bits (like Heath bits)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts, optional)
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, milk, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Press into the Pan:
- Press about 2/3 of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the base.
- Layer the Toppings:
- Sprinkle the toffee bits, chocolate chips, and nuts (if using) evenly over the dough layer.
- Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the toppings.
- Add the Remaining Dough:
- Drop small pieces of the remaining dough over the top. It doesn’t need to cover everything; gaps are fine.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.
- Cool and Slice:
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
