Christmas cookie

Ingredients:

– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 tsp baking powder
– 1 tsp baking soda
– 1 tsp salt
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 3/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1 egg
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– Colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until a dough forms.
6. Divide dough into 2-3 portions, depending on desired cookie size.
7. Roll out each portion on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
8. Cut into desired shapes using a cookie cutter.
9. Place cookies on prepared baking sheet, leaving 1 inch of space between each cookie.
10. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
11. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
12. Decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles.

Variations:

– Add a teaspoon of peppermint extract for a festive twist.
– Use holiday-themed cookie cutters, such as trees, bells, or snowflakes.
– Make a sandwich cookie by spreading frosting or jam between two cookies
