Ingredients:

For the Alfredo Sauce:

– 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (freshly shredded is best)
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

For the Shrimp and Fettuccine:

– 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 1 pound fettuccine pasta
– Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Alfredo Sauce

1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
3. Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a simmer.
4. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, until slightly thickened.
5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
6. Season the Alfredo sauce with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 2: Cook the Fettuccine and Shrimp

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the fettuccine pasta according to the package instructions until al dente.
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
3. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and cooked through.
4. Remove the cooked shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3: Combine the Fettuccine, Shrimp, and Alfredo Sauce

1. Drain the cooked fettuccine pasta and return it to the pot.
2. Add the cooked shrimp and Alfredo sauce to the pasta.
3. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated with the sauce and the shrimp are evenly distributed.
4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4: Serve

1. Serve the creamy shrimp fettuccine pasta hot, topped with additional Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley if desired.

Tips and Variations:

– Use high-quality ingredients, including fresh Parmesan cheese and real butter.
– Add some steamed vegetables, such as broccoli or asparagus, to make the dish more well-rounded.
– Substitute the shrimp with cooked chicken or bacon for a different twist.
– Add a pinch of nutmeg or cayenne pepper to the Alfredo sauce for extra depth of flavor.
