Ingredients:
– 1 pound beef (sirloin or ribeye), sliced into thin strips
– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
– 1 onion, sliced
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 cup beef broth
– 1 tablespoon soy sauce
– 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
– 1 teaspoon sesame oil
– 1 teaspoon sugar
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 8 ounces noodles (rice noodles or egg noodles)
– Scallions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Cook noodles: Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. Prepare beef: In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, sugar, and black pepper. Add the sliced beef and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
3. Cook beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
4. Cook onion and garlic: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
5. Add beef broth: Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
6. Combine beef and noodles: Add the cooked noodles and beef back into the skillet. Stir to combine and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
7. Serve: Divide the beef and noodles among individual bowls. Garnish with chopped scallions and serve immediately.
Variations:
– Add sliced bell peppers, carrots, or mushrooms to the skillet with the onion and garlic.
– Use different types of noodles, such as udon or soba noodles.
– Add a sprinkle of grated ginger or sesame seeds on top of the dish.
– Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or pickled ginger.
