Ingredients
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1 cup whole milk
– 2 large eggs
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
– 2 cups diced apples (about 2-3 apples)
– 1/2 cup cinnamon sugar (a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon)
– Confectioners’ sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking powder. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the sugar and butter until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
4. Beat in the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, beating until just combined. Do not overmix.
6. Fold in the diced apples.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
8. In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon sugar. Sprinkle evenly over the top of the bread.
9. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
10. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
11. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
12. Dust with confectioners’ sugar, if desired.
Apple Fritter Glaze (optional)
– 1 cup powdered sugar
– 2 tablespoons milk
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix all ingredients together until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread.
Tips
– Use a variety of apples that hold their shape well, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
– Don’t overmix the batter, as this can result in a dense bread.
– If you want a crispy top, broil the bread for an additional 1-2 minutes after baking. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning.
– This bread is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a snack. Enjoy!
