Ingredients
– 1 package of puff pastry, thawed
– 1/2 cup of ham, thinly sliced
– 1/2 cup of cheese, shredded (such as cheddar, mozzarella, or a combination)
– 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Optional: chopped herbs like parsley or thyme for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
3. Cut the pastry into strips, about 1 inch wide and 4-5 inches long.
4. Place a few slices of ham and some shredded cheese in the center of each pastry strip.
5. Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg for a golden glaze.
6. Fold the pastry in half over the filling, pressing the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
7. Place the ham and cheese sticks on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each stick.
8. Brush the tops of the sticks with the remaining egg wash.
9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
10. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. Serve warm.
