Ingredients:
Crust:
– 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
– 1/4 cup ice-cold water
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
Filling:
– 1 pound ground beef
– 1 onion, finely chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 cup pizza sauce
– 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
– 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
– 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
– 1/4 cup chopped pepperoni
– Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. Make the crust: In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and cold butter. Use a pastry blender or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice-cold water, stirring with a fork until the dough comes together in a ball. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
2. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
3. Prepare the filling: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess fat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
4. Assemble the pie: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled pie dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie dish and trim the edges to fit. Fill the pie crust with the cooked ground beef mixture, followed by pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, parsley, and pepperoni.
5. Cover with top crust: Roll out the remaining pie dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Use this to cover the pie and crimp the edges to seal. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
6. Bake the pie: Brush the top crust with a little milk or beaten egg for a glaze. Bake the pie for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is hot and bubbly.
7. Serve and enjoy: Serve the Pizza Burger Pie hot, garnished with additional parsley and pepperoni if desired.
