2 cups pulled ham (leftover ham or store-bought pulled ham works great)
1/2 cup barbecue sauce or honey mustard (optional, for flavor)
4 slices thick bread (e.g., sourdough or ciabatta)
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite melting cheese)
2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
1/4 cup caramelized onions (optional, for added flavor)
Pickles or arugula (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Prepare the Pulled Ham:
If the ham is plain, toss it with barbecue sauce, honey mustard, or your favorite seasoning. Warm it gently in a skillet.
Assemble the Sandwich:
Lay out the bread slices.
On two slices, layer pulled ham, shredded cheese, and caramelized onions (if using). Top with the remaining slices of bread.
Toast the Sandwich:
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add butter or olive oil.
Place the sandwiches in the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Serve:
Slice the sandwiches in half and serve hot with pickles, arugula, or a side of chips.
