– 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
– 3 tablespoons sugar

– 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
1. Activate yeast: In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, until yeast is activated and foamy.
2. Mix dough: Add flour, salt, and melted butter to the bowl. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
3. Knead dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10-15 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
4. Let dough rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
5. Prepare filling: Mix grated cheese and diced ham in a bowl.
6. Assemble loaf: Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Spread the cheese and ham mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
7. Roll and seal: Roll the dough into a tight log, starting from the long side. Seal the edges by pinching or using a little water.
8. Let loaf rise: Place the loaf in a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
9. Bake: Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Brush the top of the loaf with beaten egg for a golden glaze. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
10. Cool and serve: Let the loaf cool on a wire rack for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
