These delightful muffins feature a tender, buttery base swirled with cinnamon and sugar for a sweet and spicy treat. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or anytime snacking!

Ingredients

For the Muffins:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk or buttermilk

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1½ tsp ground cinnamon

For the Optional Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or grease it with non-stick spray.

Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 3: Mix the Wet Ingredients

  1. In another bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar.
  2. Whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add the milk or buttermilk, mixing until just combined.

Step 4: Combine the Batter

  1. Gradually fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix—some lumps are okay.

Step 5: Prepare the Cinnamon Swirl

  1. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.

Step 6: Assemble the Muffins

  1. Fill each muffin cup halfway with batter.
  2. Sprinkle about 1 teaspoon of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter.
  3. Add another layer of batter to fill the muffin cups about ¾ full.
  4. Use a toothpick or knife to swirl the cinnamon-sugar mixture into the batter.
  5. Sprinkle any remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.

Step 7: Bake the Muffins

  1. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the muffins to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 8: Add the Glaze (Optional)

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled muffins.

Tips for Success

  • Make It Your Own: Add chopped nuts, raisins, or a hint of nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • Storage: Store muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Warm them in the microwave for 10–15 seconds for a fresh-from-the-oven feel.

Enjoy these Swirled Cinnamon and Sugar Muffins—a sweet, spiced delight that’s impossible to resist! 🧁
