Wisconsin Sushi 🍣 > Regular Sushi

Posted on December 27, 2024 by admin

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of deli ham or turkey (thinly sliced)
  • 8 slices of Swiss or cheddar cheese (thinly sliced)
  • 8 dill pickle spears (or baby dill pickles)
  • 4 tbsp cream cheese, softened (optional, for spreading)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients:
    • Pat the pickle spears dry with a paper towel to prevent sogginess.
    • Lay out the deli ham or turkey slices on a clean surface.
  2. Assemble the “Rolls”:
    • If using cream cheese, spread a thin layer over each slice of meat. This helps the cheese stick and adds creaminess.
    • Place a slice of cheese on top of each piece of ham or turkey.
  3. Wrap the Pickle:
    • Lay a pickle spear at one end of the meat and cheese slice. Roll it up tightly to enclose the pickle completely.
  4. Slice and Serve:
    • Use a sharp knife to slice each roll into 3–4 bite-sized pieces.
    • Arrange the pieces on a platter for serving.

Optional Variations

  • Add a Crunch: Include a strip of crispy bacon or a crunchy veggie like a carrot stick for extra texture.
  • Flavor Boost: Spread mustard, ranch dressing, or horseradish on the meat for a tangy kick.
  • Swap Ingredients: Use roasted turkey or smoked chicken for a different flavor.

Why It’s Better Than Regular Sushi

  • No Raw Fish: Perfect for those who prefer cooked or non-seafood options.
  • Midwest Comfort: Combines classic deli flavors with a creative presentation.
  • Kid-Friendly: Simple and fun for kids to enjoy or help make.

Enjoy your Wisconsin Sushi as a delightful appetizer, snack, or potluck hit! 🍴
